Education is the key to a world with more opportunities and equal chances for everyone. Six Fingers collaborates on improving the quality of education and creating a more effective education system.
Learning is undergoing a significant change. ChatGPT, digitalization, and remote learning – are just a few developments that are affecting the forms of education in the future. These developments also impact the teacher’s profession, who will have to keep up with these changes. But that’s not the only influence – the world of work is changing too. New professions will emerge, so the content taught in education will also change. Add a new audience who is raised with technology and thinks and works differently than teachers, and it’s clear that the shifting dynamics are creating a dilemma zone. Holding onto and improving the existing system is not the solution; the world of education needs to innovate.
There are plenty of examples of innovative education from which we can learn. For instance, the 42 program in France no longer works with teachers but uses a successful peer-to-peer method to train programmers who can start working at companies directly after their education. MIT in Boston, USA, makes more than 2,500 courses available for free to students and teachers worldwide via MIT OpenCourseWare. And in Bali, Indonesia the Greenschool has fully integrated into the environment, where sustainable thinkers of the future are educated, not by throwing working existing methods overboard, but by building a new system and experience around it.
In short, a lot is happening; the question now is how can we renew the education system? How can we ensure that the shifting dynamics lead to new experiments and methods that fit how new target groups think and work? How can education be organized so that it is not only linear? How can new technologies be embraced directly in a world where accreditation is essential? How can we break a dominant system?
