How do we build and live in the future?

The boundaries of the construction system have been stretched considerably. Currently, over 400,000 Dutch citizens are in search of housing, and 5.8 million homes require renovation. It’s an enormous challenge.

For 75 years, the construction industry has invested in concrete and stone. The focus was on building faster, more efficiently, and more affordably, with less emphasis on well-being and the world we live in.

We need to think and act differently to find breakthrough solutions and address current issues. We believe it is possible. We are optimists. Seventeen years of research into solutions have equipped us with the tools to offer affordable, sustainable, and healthy solutions. Together, we can accelerate with consideration for the world we and future generations inhabit.

Florius

We have been working closely with Florius since 2011 on opening up the mortgage market and developing concepts that fit the future of housing and living. Florius continuously challenges Six Fingers to develop new propositions that are relevant and sustainable. A good example is the Vitalo’s project: designing new forms of housing for vital elderly people. With this project we made it to the Dutch Design Week.

The services applied in this project are trend research, branchmarking, and vision and strategy development.

Bouwmensen / Concreet Onderwijsproducten

Which new courses are needed in 2030? Construction is changing both in terms of process and materials that we will use. This requires different competencies. What new ways of construction will arise? Which materials will become dominant? And which competencies are necessary to give concrete shape to this change? We developed an education for the future together with Bouwmensen. And with Concreet Onderwijsproducten the teaching materials that will be used.

The services applied in this project are value innovation and systems analysis.

Enexis

Enexis Netbeheer, a network operator for the distribution of electricity and gas, wants to continuously delve into contemporary changes. After all, they have a major influence on the role that the network operator plays in the energy sector. How do people use energy now?
How will that need change in the future? No one knows whether energy will still be in the hands of the big energy companies in the future. What happens if citizens start generating their own energy? Or if we all suddenly decide to live very sustainably? What role does this require of the network operator? Questions to which we develop answers together.

The services applied in this project are trend research, systems analysis, and vision and strategy development.
