How can we take them out of their current context by challenging them with examples of developments around the world? How can we stimulate creativity so that creation itself begins to happen in a different way?
Due to external pressure (read: political decisions to reinvest heavily in defence and growing geopolitical tensions), an organisation that previously had to continuously cut costs suddenly has to redefine its role—one in which creativity and ingenuity become critically important.
The challenge
Thinking differently is essential to achieve not only improvement, but also true innovation. Teams that have become accustomed to working efficiently now need to focus on creating and experimenting. This shift goes to the very heart of development specialists’ work. Broadening perspectives, introducing new forms of creativity, and developing a more experimental mindset have therefore been explicitly defined as key development goals.
The insight
Over several trend and Design Thinking sessions, a team of 25 specialists was immersed in new trends. Drawing on various global developments, a view was formed of what the world might look like in ten years’ time. Concepts were developed and translated into prototypes.
The result? Thanks to this broadened perspective, new insights emerged, leading to cross-pollination between departments and practical, applicable creativity within projects.
Rob is happy to tell you more about this case and discuss your challenge with you.
